Providing Regenerative Medicine
with Pet Stem Cell Therapy
in Indianapolis, IN

Stem Cell Injection

Stem cell therapy is regenerative medicine that uses your pet’s own stem cells to repair and heal damaged tissue in their body. We are excited to offer this treatment because it gives pets with acute and chronic joint injuries an additional option for relieving their pain and improving mobility. Instead of giving your pet medication, we extract samples of their own fatty tissue or bone marrow and culture the cells to produce stem cells. These cells serve as blank slates, which divide and change into whatever cells are needed to repair tissue damage. Stem cells can regenerate muscle tissue, bone, cartilage, and organ cells.

How Stem Cell Therapy Works

At Broad Ripple Animal Clinic, we work with VetStem labs to culture stem cells for your pet’s treatment. The process general involves:

  • Carefully extracting a sample of fat tissue or bone marrow from your pet while they are anesthetized
  • After collecting the cells we need, we send them to VetStem for growing and processing
  • Once VetStem has grown the necessary stem cells for your pet’s treatment, they send the stem cells back to our clinic
  • When we receive the stem cells, we’ll have you bring your pet in so we can administer the stem cells via injection or IV, depending on your pet’s condition

What are the Primary Benefits of Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem cell therapy is often used in the treatment of joint conditions, such as arthritis and ligament injuries. It may also be used to regenerate bone and muscle tissue, and potentially treat diseases of the liver and kidneys. One condition for which we cannot recommend stem cell therapy is cancer, which can actually be exacerbated with stem cell treatment.

What are Stem Cells Typically Used to Treat?

Stem cell therapy can produce a variety of beneficial effects, including:

  • Decreasing pain and inflammation
  • Healing damaged tissues
  • Promoting the regeneration of healthy tissues
  • Preventing the deterioration of cells
