How Does Laser Therapy Work on Dogs and Cats?
Laser treatment works on dogs and cats the same way it works on humans; using low-level infrared light energy to induce healing.
During treatment, we use a handheld device that emits infrared light at a low frequency. This emitted light is absorbed into the skin and muscle tissue, where the tissue’s cells metabolize the light particles. Known as “photobiomodulation,” this process increases the activity and repair of tissue cells.
Is Laser Therapy Uncomfortable for Pets?
Our therapeutic laser does not cause any discomfort for our patients. We calibrate the amount of light your pet will receive during treatment, and our team is well-trained in using the laser equipment. Your pet can expect a subtle, soothing warmth while they are being treated; many patients enjoy this and will calmly sit or lay during their treatment.
